Sir Chris Hoy Portrait

May 18, 2015 by lewisphoto

Sir Chris Hoy / © Daniel Lewis 2015 Last week I was at the Olympic park, in London’s Stratford, to photograph Great Britain’s greatest ever Olympian, Sir Chris Hoy.  As you’d expect he was very polite and friendly and was more than happy to pose for a picture. It was a bit of a rushed affair inside the Velodrome, as is the norm for this type of personality, what with time constraints and schedules, but I had my lighting set […]

‘Shooting the Saints’ Series

June 20, 2013 by lewisphoto

The hundreds upon hundreds of pictures taken were stored away in boxes, on disk and on negatives for years. So I recently decided to dust them off, scan them in and present them on my website as a project.

Jonnie Peacock O.B.E.

December 31, 2012 by lewisphoto

One of my portrait victims of the past twelve months, a certain gold-medal-winning Paralympic sprinter, has been named in the Queen’s New Year Honours list. Jonnie Peacock was one of many of our successful Olympic and Paralympic stars to be awarded the Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.). Big congratulations to him on this prestigious honour, he certainly deserves all the accolades he gets after a terrific 2012. <a

Olympic Park Visit

August 14, 2012 by lewisphoto

With the harsh, bright sunlight they made for some very contrasty black & white images. If only we modern-day photographers still shot our work on film I would love to have printed these up in the darkroom.

Shooting The Saints

June 8, 2012 by lewisphoto

Ten years ago I was a photography student at Salisbury College in Wiltshire. I was very much into my football, and still am, and in particularly I was obsessed with following the fortunes of my hometown football team, Southampton FC.

Team Ossur Photo Shoot

January 4, 2012 by lewisphoto

Photograph ©Daniel Lewis 2011 http://www.daniellewisphoto.com My final shoot before Christmas was at Lea Valley Athletics Centre in Edmonton, North London, where I photographed two Paralympic 2012 hopefuls, Scott Moorhouse and Jonnie Peacock, for a company called Ossur, who manufacture top end prosthetic limbs. First up was javalin thrower Scott Moorhouse. It had originally been planned to shoot both athletes in the building itself, but on reflection it didn’t seem appropriate to simulate a javalin being thrown indoors! So I asked […]

Daniel Keatings: Olympic Hopeful 2012

December 13, 2011 by lewisphoto

Photograph ©Daniel Lewis 2011 I recently shot a lovely assignment in Grantham (Leicestershire), birthplace to both Sir Isaac Newton and Margaret Thatcher. It is also home to a clean energy farm: Beech Tree Farm, in the heart a small village, called Melton Mowbray.  The farm is predominantly powered by a single wind turbine, housed on one of its fields and built by Opus Energy,  which is a primary sponsor of young British Olympic hopeful Daniel Keatings, who could be one […]

Help for Heroes Challenge Shoot

December 4, 2011 by lewisphoto

Photograph ©Daniel Lewis 2011 On Friday I was at Twickenham to photograph former members of the England rugby team with the man who was to hand over the match ball during the Help For Heroes Challenge game, Andy Gibbs. Pictured is Andy, who is in the Royal Navy, and actually abseiled from the stadium roof down onto the turf prior to the game in front of over 30,000 people before handing over the ball, seen here with the ex-England players. Lucha Future at London’s Roundhouse

June 27, 2011 by lewisphoto

Featured in this post is a set of images I shot last week at London’s Roundhouse in the build up to a spectacular three day event that is: Lucha Future – a Mexican form of wrestling, not too dissimilar to WWF, though with a slight comic book twist, featuring superhero-esque costumes and larger than life (not to mention dangerous) characters. Lots of fun. Visit my website here
